Born in Lignieres, Neuchatel, Switzerland.
Son of David Monnier & Elisabeth L'Allemande.
In 1821 the family emigrated from Switzerland to Red River Colony (aka Selkirk Settlement) in Canada.
Married Christine Rindesbacher, a fellow immigrant to Red River (with her family), on 7 Apr 1834 in St Louis.
Cause of death: of Bright's disease, a historical classification of kidney diseases that would be described in modern medicine as acute or chronic nephritis.
