Her obituary notes that she was the last surviver of the historic Red River colony. Under the auspices of Lord Selkirk a group emigrated in 1821 from Switzerland to Red River colony in Manitoba, Canada. Conditions were dire and they traveled first to St Louis and then settled in Galena, then known as La Pointe" in 1826.

Born in Lauperswil, Signau, Bern, Switzerland. Her mother was Barbe Anna Wyss.

The spelling of her maiden name varies depending on the source. Her brother, Peter, as written by his biographer, is spelled Rindisbacher but their great-niece, Cora Monnier Rawlins, spelled the last name Rindesbacher. I tend to side with Cora.
