The 1920 Federal Census for Lexington Oklahoma (Cleveland County) shows Thomas, age 4 years 4 months, born in Oklahoma; living with his father, John T., a farmer, age 27, born in Missouri; and his mother, Dolly, age 23, born in Oklahoma; and his younger siblings, Louise, age 2 years 10 months; and John W., age 10 months; both born in Oklahoma. The 1930 Federal Census for Lexington Oklahoma (Cleveland County) shows Thomas, age 14; living with his father, J. T., a farmer, age 30; and his mother, Dolly, age 34; and four younger siblings: Alma, age 13; Wendell, age 11; Dwight, age 8; and Mary, age 6; all born in Oklahoma.

The U.S. World War II Army Enlistment Records, 1938-1946 shows that Thomas enlisted in the Army Air Corps on November 14, 1941, and that he had one year of college. The U.S. Veterans Gravesites, circa 1775-2006 shows that Thomas was born September 16, 1915, that he died March 21, 1996 and was buried in Lexington Cemetery, and that he left military service as a Staff Sergeant after having served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On November 18, 1941, Thomas married Verla Ruth Mason, who was born December 16, 1909, in Oklahoma. Verla died on July 16, 1984 and was buried in the Lexington Cemetery. Thomas died on March 21, 1996 in Harrah, Oklahoma (Oklahoma County) and was buried beside his wife.

Thomas Virgil Washburn, 80, of Oklahoma City, died March 21, 1996. He was born September 16, 1915 in Lexington, Oklahoma to John and Dollie Washburn. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired after 26 years with the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Washburn is survived by two brothers, Wendell, of Ft. Myers, Florida and Dwight of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Alma Louise Keating of Norman and Mary Elizabeth Whitney of Tulsa. Preceded in death by his wife, Verla Ruth; parents; and a brother, Marland Dorr Washburn. Memorial services will be at a later date.
