He married Hildegarde Becker on Oct. 22, 1946, in Plainville.
He was a longtime Plainville area resident, and had previously lived in Severin. He had worked for John Farmer in the oil industry for more than 40 years and was a contract oil pumper for several other companies. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and VFW, all of Plainville.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; six daughters, Carol Vignery, Wellsville, Connie Tate, Clyde, Joan Dobson, Kathy Dreher and Denise Ganoung, all of Plainville, and Lynnae Boedeker, DeSoto; two brothers, Norman Dreiling, Great Bend, and Jerry Dreiling, Hoisington; four sisters, Shirley Bollig, Hays, Thelma Hake, Plainville Erma Staab, Manhattan, and Joyce Labarge, Topeka; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Linus, Vernon, Kenneth and Francis; three sisters, Waunita Plante, Viola Budig and Irene Dreiling; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Plainville, with Father Joe Popelka officiating; burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors by the Plainville VFW. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today at Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, Plainville, and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. A Ladies Guild rosary will be at 3 p.m. at the funeral chapel. A parish vigil service will be at 7 p.m. at the church, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary.
Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart School or to the American Heart Association.
