Ronald F. Flitton was born January 29, 1926 to Curtis Monroe Flitton and Luella May Rawson Flitton in Ogden, Utah. Ron returned home to the arms of his mother, father and three brothers Jack, David, Harold, and infant sister on July 17, 2010. Ron passed from metastatic renal cell carcinoma to his bones; he suffered in pain but didn't complain at all.

Ronald was a kind, fun loving husband, father, grandfather. and great-grandfather. Ron was loved and admired by all who knew him. He is greatly missed; he leaves behind a great legacy to his family and friends of love and compassion.

He leaves behind: his wife of sixty-two years, Luella Jane Atwood Flitton; a son, Larry Flitton (Elaine); daughters Kathy Cook (Roy), Madelene McNeil (Rick), and Rebecca Larsen (Jed); thirteen grandchildren; and thirty-one great grandchildren.

He retired after thirty-one years at Mountain Fuel Supply Co in Salt Lake City. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, holding many positions including numerous years in scouting.

He served our country with honors in the South Pacific in the US Navy during World War II, on the USS Richard P. Leary DD664 a destroyer. He fought in seven major battles doing his duty to help win the war. He went on many World War II Ship Reunions with his wife and family. He loved getting together with his old shipmates; they will always be in the hearts of Ron's family as good, wonderful people.

He never tired when it came to fishing or going anywhere anyone wanted to take him. He went rock crawling in off road vehicles with grandson Curtis into his late 70's. Fishing with anyone who wanted to go, he loved catching the fish but not eating them. Ron loved helping people. He loved his family and did all he could to make others have an easier life; he did without to give to others. He loved camping, hunting, and the outdoors. He will be greatly missed by all!

A viewing will be held on Wednesday July 21, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour before the funeral in the Union Fort Second Ward Chapel, 7145 South 540 East, Midvale, Utah. Funeral Services to honor Ron will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at same address at 10:00 a.m.
