from the Danville Gazette for April 12, 1917:
Willard Bowman, a young married man, who resided on the Montgomery farm south of Lizton, died Friday night, as a result of complications arising from measles. He was 22 years old. Mr. Bowman, while ill, plowed all day in a rain, and the following day he drove in a farm wagon to Jamestown through a rain. On his return he stopped at Lizton to consult a physician, complaining that he was suffering from ivy poisoning. The physician diagnosed the trouble was measles and the patient was put to bed. The exposure, however, caused troubles that could not be combatted and death resulted. The funeral was held Sunday and burial was in the Lizton K. of P. cemetery.
