He married Hannah Begeman on March 4, 1914 at Parker, South Dakota. They lived until 1917 in Turner, South Dakota. Then they moved to Weiser Township, Kidder County, where they raised their 7 children: Betty, Fred, John Edward, Donald, David, James, and Theodore. They retired on their farm in Weiser.
