Edgar "Ed" Frank Skelton, 79, died in Klamath Falls, Ore., on July 15, 2010, with his children by his side.

Ed was born on July 11, 1931, to Frank Leslie and Erma Cleola (Swadley) Skelton in Neosho, Mo. When he was 11, the family moved to Klamath Falls, where he grew up and attended Summers Elementary, Altamont Jr. High, & Klamath Union High School and would later attend Oregon Technical Institute of Technology, now known as OIT.

In 1951, he entered the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict where he was severely injured, losing his leg due to a land mine. He was then honorably discharged n 1952.

He married Marilyn Jean Fanning on 27 Dec 1954 in Reno, Nevada with his sister Vera (Skelton) & brother-in-law Dallas "Sonny" Fanning as their witnesses. This marriage later ended in divorce, but they rekindled their relationship in 2006.

He later married Carol Fanning in 1987.

Ed worked at several office supply companies in Klamath Falls, including Jones, Shaw's and Faught's before owning and operating Ed Skelton Office Machines. He retired in 1995.

He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foregin Wars Post No. 1383 and the American Legion and a member of the Elks Lodge.

He enjoyed building model ships, woodworking and leatherwork, but most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren.

Ed is survived by his wife, Karol; son, Steven Skelton; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Debbie Skelton; daughter, Linda Shuck; daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Bill Bratton; step-son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Melissa Fanning, all of Klamath Falls; brothers and sisters, Adelma O'Dear of Grants Pass, Ore., Gene Skelton of Central Point, Ore., Jim Skelton of Roseburg, Ore., & Dean Skelton of Ontario, Ore; grandchildren, Steven Skelton II and his wife Jessica of Klamath Falls, Christina Skelton of Reno, Nev., Adam Shuck and Bryan Shuck, Klamath Falls, Melissa and her husband, Shon Haggard of Gardnerville, Nev., Sonya Bratton of Medford, Ore., and Keishya Bratton and Dawn and Tommy Jones, all of Klamath Falls, and Dusty Minich of Las Vegas, Nev.; step-grandchildren, Allycia, Kya, Jordan and Austin Fanning, all of Klamath Falls; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Paige and Bailey Skelton, William Sandercock Jr., Bo Sites, Destiny and Xander Shuck, Jacob and Ryon Haggard, and Tyller and Donovan Jones, all of Klamath Falls, and Trenton Minich of Portland, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Boyd and Jerry; sister, Vera Fanning; first wife, Marilyn; son-in-law, Brad Shuck and step-son, John Klick.
