Mrs. Elsie Mae Sexton Burial at Gravity
Last rites for Mrs. Elsie Mae Sexton of Gravity were held at the Shum Funeral Home in Bedford the afternoon of April 29. Rev. Harold Ingelman of Corning officiated. Burial was in Washington Township cemetery at Gravity.

Elsie Mae Laird, daughter of Jesse and [Sarah] Elizabeth [Hollis] Laird was born in Taylor County, Iowa, March 5, 1881 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Pete Downey at Corning on April 25 at the age of 77 years, one month, 20 days.

She was married to Nathan [Isaac] Sexton on December 25, 1899 and to them were born nine children, five sons and four daughters. One son, [Frank] Gail, died seven weeks ago. The surviving children are Mrs. Gladys O’Neal of Provo, Utah; Mrs. Beulah Downey and Mrs. Lorna Hardisty, Corning; Mrs. Hazel Green, Cook, Wash.; [Nathan] Carl Sexton, Lenox; Virgil Sexton, Bedford; Jesse [Free] and Francis Sexton, Washington State.

There are also four sons-in-law, four daughters-in-law, 27 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren.

Two brothers preceded her in death.
