Julia Burchfield Sorrells, 96, was born in Haywood County, NC on Dec. 20, 1913 and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Eliza Burchfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Sorrells; an infant daughter, Carrie Elizabeth Sorrells and daughter, Mary Ruth Worley; brothers, Divard, Howard, Harry, Lawrence "Toad" and Wade Burchfield; sisters, Etta Warren, Hermie Allen, Annie Dee Ray, Edith Dills, Emma Sorrells, and Kathryn Pressley.

She was the oldest living member of East Canton Baptist Church. Her family and friends held a special place in her heart. Her greatest joy was her great-great-grandchildren. She loved telling everyone who visited about her experiences of growing up in Haywood County.
