Death claimed Nels Peter Salmonsen, retired rancher, at the Murray hospital in Butte this morning at 3:30. Mr. Salmonsen had been a patient at the hospital for the past eight days and was 69 at the time of his passing. Born, August 30, 1875 in Aro, Denmark, he came to this country as a boy of 17 and went to work on the H. E. Morswe ranch. Soon afterwards he purchased a ranch nine miles east of Dillon, formerly the old Bishop place, which he operated for nine years. He then took up ranching interest in the Ruby Vally which he maintained for 30 years until his retirement 12 years ago. Since retiring he has made his home at 444 Kentucky Avenue in Dillon. Mr. Salmonsen was a regular attendant of service at the Lutheran church and was a member of the Danish Brotherhood. He leaves to mourn his passing four sons and five daughters; Elmer Salmonsen of Butte, Arthur, Carl and Nels Salmonsen, Jr. of Sheridan; Mrs. Chris Larsen, Dillon; Mrs. Victor Magnus and Mrs. Frank Hunter, Sheridan; Mrs. Herman Qualey, Butte, and Mrs. Towel Bueter of Reno, Nevada. In addition, he is survived by three brother, Peter Salmonsen, Pablo, Mont.; Hans and Andrew Salmonsen of Meridian, Idaho; Carl Salmonsen of Durma, Idaho and a sister in Denmark. Several nieces and nephews survive, including Mrs. Edward Kenison of Dillon and Mrs. James McDurmitt of Butte. The remains were brought to the Brundage funeral home in Dillon this morning. Funeral services will be held at the First Lutheran church Monday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. Norman Benson in charge. Interment will be in Mountain View cemetery. Friday, July 20, 1945
