Frank was the son of John W. and Margaret "Maggie" Jackson Linn. He married Seba Lovincy Arnold, the daughter of Amos and Lora Ann (Johnson) Arnold, on March 20, 1900 in Roberts, Ford, Illinois with Rev. W. W. Atkins of the M. E. Church officiating.

Frank and Seba had three children; Arnold John (m. Florella Zahn), Marguerite Ann (m. Merritt I. Kendrick) and Seba Frances Linn.

In 1894 Frank purchased the drug store located on Main Street in Roberts becoming the owner and pharmacist, a position he retained for forty-seven years. At one time he added a line of jewelry and the store was also recognized in a national trade magazine for carrying the largest stock of wall paper for any town in the United States the size of Roberts. He sold the store in April of 1941.
