MRS. HICKERSON DEAD
Passed Peacefully away at Her Home Yesterday Morning
One by one Moberly is called upon to part with her oldest, best and most substantial citizens. Yesterday morning at 11 o'clock the Angel of Death carried Mrs. D. M. Hickerson to her heavenly rest. She had been afflicted for the past two years but despite her physical suffering was ever cheerful and hopeful.
The true Christian spirit of this kind woman shone at its' brightest during her illnesses. Never fretful, never complaining of her said lot, but with cheering words of welcome she called the many visitors who called during her illness. Perhaps no woman in Moberly was held in higher esteem than our citizens than Mrs. Hickerson. Her children revered her and returned the love and watchfulness that she had given them in early life many fold.
Mrs. D.M. Hickerson was 61 years and 10 months of age and was born and raised in Ralls county, Mo. She was married to Dr. J. C. Hickerson in 1861 and seven children were born of this union. Of these four sons, Dr. E. R. Hickerson, Ab, Jack and Will, are living. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. D. F. Carpenter, of this city, and Mrs. Muldrow, of Ralls county, and five brothers, J.C. Rodes, of Shelby county; Dr. W. R., Mexico; J. J., Paris; C. B. and J. H. of Sedalia, to mourn her loss, besides numerous friends in Moberly and Randolph county. The funeral will take place from the M. E. church, South, of which she was an earnest and consistent member, tomorrow afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. S. P. Oresap, after which the remains will be tenderly laid to rest in Oakland cemetery. Moberly Democrat August 17, 1901
