Eleanor Cluff Monsen 1918 ~ 2007 "Nanny" Our loving, angel mother peacefully left this world March 22, 2007. Her last days were filled with many visits and expressions of love from family and friends. She continually expressed gratitude for her many blessings in this life. Mother was born in Lake Point, Utah April 13, 1918 the first of five children born to Owen Houtz and Blanche Davies Cluff. She was schooled in "The Little Red Schoolhouse" in Lake Point, later graduating from Grantsville High School in 1935. "Nan" married her missionary sweetheart, Roger Paul Monsen, September 7, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a devoted wife and tender nurturer to her six children and 25 grandchildren. Her inviting home was always open to extended family, neighbors, and friends. Mother was a fabulous cook, seamstress, and homemaker. Everyone felt drawn to her home. Throughout her life she was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in any and all church callings she received and by her example, love, and generosity, many lives have been positively touched. Perhaps her greatest and most enjoyed pastime was her love for travel with her husband of 66 years. They traveled the world together and enjoyed many trips with family and friends. Their summertime trips to the "beach" will be a tradition that will live in the lives of many generations to come. Mother will be deeply missed by her two sons, Roger P. (Carole) Monsen, Jr., and Richard O. Monsen; four daughters, Nanci (Garff) Bryson, Jodee (Keith) Kennedy, Kristine (Gregg) Johnson ,and Robyn (Victor) Kimball. She cherished her 25 grandchildren, and 35 great-grand-children. She is survived by a brother, LaVelle (Ila) Cluff; and sisters, Afton Harrop, Barbara Melis, and LaRue (John) Miklovik. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a grandson, David Johnson. Funeral services for Mom will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2007, 12 noon at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, UT, where friends may call Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Our family wishes to express gratitude for the dignified, loving care rendered to our mother during her stay at CareSource of Utah, and to Rebecca, her home care nurse and special friend.
