Eva Lena Akes was born at Decatur, Iowa, April 13,
1897, departing this life July 22, 1936 at the age of 39 years, 3 months and 9 days at Davis City Iowa. Her father preceeded her in death in 1926. Feb. 17, 1917 she was united in marriage to Mr. Floyd Kirk at the Christian parsonage in
Leon. Mr. Kirk was of Davis City. To this union were born three sons, Harvey Edward who died in infancy, Raymond, aged 15 and Carl aged 13. Besides her devoted husband and children she leaves to mourn her loss her mother, Emma
Akes, three brothers and three sisters; Warren E. of LeRoy, James O. and Fred E. of Clarinda, Dale of Decatur and Beulah Hodge and Lillian Williams of Davis City. She was a young matron of sterling qualities, loved by her friends and
neighbors. Funeral services were held from the M.E. church at Davis City. The building was filled to capacity and a large number of friends stood outside to pay their last tribute.
