Floyd Pleasant Kirk was born in Harrison County, Missouri on August 29, 1898 to Edward Franklin and Julia Ann (Hullinger) Kirk. The family lived in Burrell, Decatur, Iowa right across the border from Harrison County, Missouri at this time. He was named after his grandfather Pleasant Kirk. He marry Evaline Lena Akes on February 17, 1917. They move to Clay, Harrison County, Missouri to a farm right after they were married. They have moved back to Iowa to Davis City where three sons would come from this union; Harvey Edward Kirk would be born June 19, 1919 and die the same day. Ralph would pass away in 1987 and Karl in 1994. Evaline his wife would pass away in 1936 at the age of 39. Floyd would move back in with parents for a short time and marry again a teacher by the name of Nora White. Floyd passed away at the age of 101 just about 10 miles from where he was raised, on January 2, 2000. Nora passed away the same year in September.
