Ruth Aileen Hooper Brooks , 76, of Cowboy Way died July 7, 2010. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Hutson and Jane Watson Hooper. She was preceded in death by 19 brothers and sisters. Ruth worked for 26 years as a supervisor for Sylco Corporation, and 5 years at WCU in Facilities Management; she also work for Westcare Home Health.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 48 years, Buddy Brooks, a daughter, Cheryl Brooks of Concord, NC; two sons, Brian Brooks of Church Hill, TN, Craig Hooper of Sylva, NC; a brother, Wade Hooper of Caney Fork; three grand children and 1 great grandchild.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Locust Field Baptist Church, of which she was a member, with Reverend Jason Buchanan and Reverend Charles Carnes officiating. Burial will follow at Brasstown Cemetery. Drew Hooper, Bremm Hooper, Ronnie Hooper, Travis Brooks, Bob Allen, and Charlie Ashe will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, at Melton Funeral Home.
