Clyde Alvin Hooper, 80, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, July 26, at Presbyterian Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 28, at Shady Brook Baptist Church. The Rev. George Sherman officiated. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

A native of Cullowhee's Caney Fork community, he was a son of the late Weston Hutson and Jane Watson Hooper. He was a member of Shady Brook Baptist Church, Senior Men's Sunday School Class, West Gate Masonic Lodge 738 Scottish Rite Bodies Oasis Temple and was owner/operator of Hooper's Upholstery. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife of almost 60 years, Joyce Fisher Hooper; one son, Ronald Clyde Hooper of Charlotte; two daughters, Janet Jane McCullough of Mooresville and Kim Ellen McGee of Charlotte; one brother, Wade Hooper of Cullowhee; one sister, Ruth Brooks of Sylva; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
