James Franklin Willis, known as JF, was raised by his mother, Amy Edith Collins Willis, after the death of his father, William J. Willis, in 1855. He married Mary Jane Buckner on July 14, 1872 and they had six known children, two daughters and four sons: Zelda, Margaretta E., John William, Rufus B., Zedic Hamilton (known as Hamp) and Thomas R. JF was ordained to the gospel ministry and served his Association and local churches for many years, including being a traveling preacher. Both J. F. and Mary Jane are buried in the Old Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, where he had been both a member and served as its pastor on several occasions.
