Mrs. Harriet Elizabeth Eddins, 92, a pioneer resident here, died at 6 p.m. Friday in a San Antonio hospital. Graveside services were conducted here at Citizens Cemetery Monday morning.


Mrs. Eddins moved to Old Clarendon in 1891, where she taught school. She was the wife of John N. Eddins, who died in 1925. He was in the furniture and drug business.


Mrs. Eddins had been living with her children in Ft. Worth and San Antonio for the past few years. She was a member of the Methodist Church.


She is survived by one son, William Nelson Eddins, San Antonio; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.


Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Murphy-Spicer Funeral Home.

Son is William Nelson Eddins born in San Saba, Texas in 1888. He passed away in San Antonio, Texas in 1976 at the age of 88 years. He was a cowboy on the JA Ranch, worked several years on the railroad, and also in the oil fields in every capacity. He also served in the Army Air Corp. as an airplane mechanic during World War I. He spent the last 25 years as a chemical salesman for the Tret-O-Lite Co. a division of Petrolite. He owned a peanut farm and raised horses after he retired and was devoted to his wife Stella Hagy Eddins who he married in 1919 while he was stationed at Kelly Field in WWI. They had three children and eight grandchildren.
