J. K. Rector. 91, Summmoned Tuesday Morning - A pall of sadness crept over the city and countryside Tuesday morning, December 17, when it was learned that one of San Saba's most beloved and respected citizens, James Knight Rector, had departed this life that morning. Death came to Mr. Rector at Conners Nursing Home. He had been suffering an attack of the intestinal flu but had been in ill health for a number of years.

James K. Rector was an unusual gentleman. His sterling worth as a churchman, citizen and businessman is appreciated by everyone who was fortunate enough to know him and associate with him. He was a devout Methodist, an earnest and active worker in the church throughout his adult life.

Mr. Rector was a member of a well-known pioneer family, He was born to Mr. and Mrs. N. Rector, at Seguin, on April 1, 1849, and later moved with his family to Austin. He was educated at Emory and Henry College, Emory, Virginia, and was a member of the Texas State Bar. He moved to San Saba in 1906 and formed a law partnership with his brother, the late Senator E. L. Rector, which existed until the latter's death in 1930. Since then, he had continued in active practice here in connection with real estate business until becoming ill.

Funeral services for Mr. Rector were conducted at the San Saba Methodist Church by the Little Funeral Home, Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m., with the Rev. T.N. Barton, pastor of the church officiating. Floral offerings were abundant and a large number of friends attended the service. Intermant was in City Cemetery. Active and honorary pallbearers were of the San Saba business community.
