MAASSEN

Junior Ralph Maassen, son of Ralph and Caroline (Joens) Maassen, was born on January 20, 1927 in Pocahontas, Iowa. He was baptized on Feb. 11, 1927 and at the age of 14, was confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. He passed away on Nov. 28, 1992 at the Tulsa Regional Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla. at the age of 65.

Junior was united in marriage to Louise Genevieve Briggs on Sept. 16, 1953 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. This union was bless with four children.

Junior was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 341st M.P. Company. He was employed by the Firestone Rubber Plant in Ankeny for 31 and a half years, retiring in 1985. He and his wife Genevieve moved to Tulsa, Okla. one year ago.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Caroline; two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Maassen; sister, Luella Winters; and by his daughter, Terrie Lynn on July 9, 1966.

He is survived by his wife, Louise of Tulsa, Okla.; one son, Lon Maassen, stationed at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyo.; two daughters, Kelly Fields of Tulsa, Okla. and LeeAnn Maassen of Iowa City; brother, Alfred Maassen of Rolfe; sister, Viola Maas of Manson; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.

Junior will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 4, at the Fielding Funeral Home with Pastor Louis Hoger officiating. Serving as honorary bearers were Art Linsley, Myron Breeze, Roger Kelshiemer, Norman Fitzgerald, Eugene Brittain and Jim Fowler.
