Drummer Howard Bailey served in Headquarters Company Band of Infantry Replacement Troops and died of Spanish Influenza at Camp Pike at the age of twenty-nine.

The son of Isaac Bailey, Howard was born in Collinsville and was a St. Louis musician and bartender before joining to serve his country during World War I.

He was survived by his parents, brothers James, Isaac, Albert, Tony, and sister Mrs. S. Hireman.
