Son of John Kisling (Revolutionary War soldier buried at the Fatic Cemetery south of Middletown, Henry Co., IN) and Eve Miller (buried in a now flooded area on their homestead in VA). John and his wife Catharine Sheffer grew up together in VA and their families came to Wayne Co, IN / Preble Co., OH in the early 1800's and on to Henry Co in the 1820's. Jake and Caty had 14 children; John Sylvester, Daniel, Jacob Jr., Elizabeth, Andrew Jackson, Martin K., Annie, Peter Michael, William Jasper, Samuel Sawyer, George Washington, Mary, Robert C., and Margaret Ida. They also had 109 grandchildren! They are the family matriarch and patriarch of our family and the head of the Keesling Cemetery.
