George was the great-grandson of Johann Startz and Catherine Elizabeth Johanna Wenzel of Comal County, Texas. Johann immigrated to Galvaston, Texas on 11/23/1844. Johann was a "First Founder" of the German community of New Braunfels, Texas established in 1845. Johann was a Citizen of the Republic of Texas; having arrived before the Republic of Texas merged with the United States as the 28th state on February 19, 1846.
George Christopher Startz was born 11/10/1894 in San Saba, was the son of Louis Charles Startz and Mary Jane Holamn Startz. George died 4/15/1961 in Carnegie, OK and is buried in Carnegie Cemetery, OK. George married Lena Lee Hector in 9/3/1913. Lena was born 11/3/1894 in San Saba, died 10/9/1982 Amarillo, TX.
