George Edward Shepherd, 59, Montpelier business man for the
past 11, years, died Wednesday in a Salt Lake hospital after an illness of 10 days, following several years of poor health. He was bom July 7, 1887 in Paris, the son of the late Edward Tracy Shepherd, and Mrs. Harriet (Humpherys) Shepherd. Before moving to Montpelier, he resided in Liberty, where he operated a store and cream station for about 20 years. For a number of years he ran a cream station in Montpelier and later a feed store. He was a member of the L. D. S. church and of various civic organizations.
Besides his widow, and his mother who resides in Paris, he
is survived by five sons, Edward G. Shepherd, Sharon; Joseph Shepherd and William G. Shepherd both attending school in Ogden; Todd M. Shepherd and Kay Shepherd, both of Montpelier; six brothers and sisters, Richard T. Shepherd, San Diego, California; Lawrence Shepherd and Margie Shepherd, both of Paris; Mrs. Myrtle Williams, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Hattie Schramm, Peyton, Utah; and Aurelian Shepherd, Las Vegas, Nevada; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held in the Montpelier First Ward; chapel at a time to be announced. The Matthews Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
