Former Reeldent of Macon City Passes Away In Missouri.
Maaon City. III., Dec. 3.—(Special.)—Friday marked the passing of one of Mason City's former respected residents, Jacob F. Mulford, who died at his home in Kirksvllle, Missouri, at 10:30 o'clock after a protracted lllness at tha ag eof 69 years, 3 months and 17 days. Mr. Mulford was born in Dearborn county, Indiana, on August 12, 1838 and came to this locality while yet in his youth where be remained until the outbreak of the civil war when he enlisted as one of the "90 day men" in the 17th Illinois. After this enlistment had expired he re-enlisted in the service and became a member of Co. A. 28th Illinois in which company and regiment he served through out the war and until discharged in 1865. Soon after coming home he was united in marriage with Miss Clarinda McCarty, the result of this union being twelve children, two of whom with wife and mother passed from this life several years ago. Ten children, with other relatives and many warm friends are left to mourn his death: Thomas E., Norman O, Alvin L. Mulford and Mrs. Rose Dodson of this city; Carrie L and William L. Mulford and Mra. Effie Legg, of Kirksvllle. Mo.; John H. Mulford, of New Salem, Ill.; Mr. Orilla Martens, of Barry, Ill; Walter H. Mulford, of Lebo, Kansas. Tha funeral services were at Kirksville on Sunday and the interment was made in Oak Grove cemetery at that place.
