John N. Laird was a foreman for Lufkin Indistries for 23 years. He served in the United States Army, and served in Korea for two years with Counter Intelligence Corp (CIC) and Special Forces (Green Berets). Prior to going to Korea he was stationed at Ft. Polk, Louisiana.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Harrell) Laird, daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Johnny Istre; sons, John N. Laird, Jr., Kimmy D. Laird, Tod Laird; son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Kela Laird; stepdaughter Denice Tucker, stepsons, Deane Hood and Ken Conrad; brothers, Noah Laird, Alvin Laird and Wayne Laird,; sisters, Louise Johnson, Eloise Quave and Joyce Reeves; 13 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Laird were held in the Conner Cemetery Tabernacle with Reverend Kenneth Wooley officiating.
