A graveside service honoring Mrs. Eloise Laird Quave will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Oakhill Cemetery, Oakdale, with Reverend Greg Willis officiating. Services will be under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Eloise passed from her earthly life on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Oakdale Community Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Known for her gardening skills and having a green thumb for all plants and beautiful flowers, as well as her love of genealogy, she was most happy when she was sharing her flowers and helping others learn about their family history. She always had a hot cup of strong Community coffee ready for anybody who wanted to visit and usually had some lemon pie to go with it, if she knew you were coming.

She raised her children alone after the death of her husband in 1980, and was involved in the lives of numerous others through the years, with her focus being on strength of character and encouraging everybody to strive for better each day. She was confident in her salvation, having no doubt that was she spending eternity with Jesus. She was able to live at home until a few years ago, when her health required her transition to Allen Oaks Nursing Home in Oakdale.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Ellen Laird; her husband, Ellis Quave, Sr.; two sisters, Annie Mae Laird Kertz, and her husband, Aubrey, and Joyce Laird; and two brothers, Alvin “Buster” Laird and John Laird.

Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include one son, Ellis Quave, Jr., and his wife, Tina, of Oakdale; one daughter, Anita Duck, and her husband, Lynn, of Woodworth; two brothers, Noah Laird, and his wife, Ertha Lee and Wayne Laird, and his wife, Frances; one sister, Louise Johnson; five grandchildren, Julie Quave, Kaitlin Quave Young, Joseph Duck, and his wife, Alex-Anne, Nicholas Duck and Lauren Duck Melanson, and her husband, Andrew; and five great grandchildren, Chloe King, Quinn King, Quade Young, Robert Clayton Duck and Ali-Margaret Duck.

The family would like to thank the staff of Allen Oaks Nursing Home, Oakdale Community Hospital and Rush Funeral Home for their care and guidance as our mother made this journey through the final phase of her life. Her love and support will be missed by us all as we strive to do better each day and love our families as if there is no tomorrow.
