Max H. Anderson, 71, of 8820 West 11200 North, Bothwell, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 1988, at Bear River Valley hospital in Tremonton of heart failure.

He was born Nov. 13, 1916, in Bothwell, a son of Eli Carl and Sarah Ellen "Ella" Hunsaker Anderson.

He married Erma Holland on May 23, 1941, in the Salt Lake LDS temple.

He was a lifelong resident of Bothwell where he attended elementary school. He graduated from Bear River High school and was Bothwell's first Eagle Scout.

He owned and operated a farm and was a cattleman. He raised purebred Hereford cattle and operated a feed lot.

He was past president and director of the Utah Hereford association, supervisor of beef cattle at the Box Elder County fair for several years, and had received the Utah Cattleman of the Year award. He had been a seed grain inspector for the Utah Crop Improvement association.

He had served as a member of the Bothwell Town board and as mayor of the community.

He was a high priest in the Bothwell LDS ward and served as ward clerk for seven-and-a-half years, superintendent of the YMMIA, Sunday school teacher, scoutmaster and home teacher.

Surviving are his widow of Bothwell; two sons and one daughter: Mark H. Anderson, Sandy; Mrs. Marvin (Mary Jane) Miller and Eli H. Anderson, both of Bothwell; 12 grandchildren.

Also surviving are five brothers and two sisters: Ray H. Anderson and Keith H. Anderson, both of Bothwell; Carlyle H. Anderson, Elba, Idaho; Dean H. Anderson, Noreco, Calif.; Verl H. Anderson Fielding; Mrs. Vesta A. Jensen, Tremonton; Mrs. John (Eloise) A. Martineau, Morgan.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted today (Wednesday) at 12 noon in the Bothwell LDS ward chapel with Bishop Theron R. Eberhard officiating.

Friends may call at Rogers mortuary, 111 North First East, Tremonton, from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m.

Interment will be in Bothwell Valley View cemetery.
