BERT CONKLE, AGED 48, DIES AT BRASHEAR
Was Prominent Farmer and Took Active Interest In Politics
Bert Conkle, a well known farmer living 1 1-2 miles north of Brashear, died Sunday morning at 10 o'clock, following an illness of several months with throat and lung trouble. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:30 in the U. B. Church at Brashear. The services were conducted by Sister A. C. Torrey and burial took place in the Brashear cemetery.
Mr. Conkle was the son of John and Martha Brashear Conkle. He was born near Brashear, Jan. 6, 1881, and 48 years old at the time of his death. On June 1, 1994, he was united in marriage with Miss Tillie Propst. To this marriage one daughter was born, Idona Fay, who preceded her father in death Jan. 19, 1927. His health had been failing since the death of his daughter and for the past five weeks he had been confined to his bed.
Mr. Conkle was a good, reliable citizen, honorable in all his dealings. He was a Republican in political campaigns. His parents and grandparents on both his father's and mother's side are two of the best known families in eastern Adair county. They were pioneers of the vicinity.
Mr. Conkle leaves his widow, his aged mother, and one sister, Miss Cuma Conkle, besides other relatives and many friends. He was a nephew of R. M. Brashear mof Kirksville.
