John C. Mullenbach, 74, died Sunday morning, at his home in Johnsburg, following an illness of several months. Funeral services were held at 10:00 o'clock, Wednesday morning, at St. John's Catholic church in Johnsburg, and burial was in St. John's cemetery.

Mr. Mullenbach was born August 18, 1894, in Boss, Germany, and came to the United States at the age of three years. He was married to Mary Ann Weber, June 7, 1888, in the Johnsburg parish church. They then resided on the farm now owned by their son Paul, north of Johnsburg. In March 1920, they retired from farming and purchased a home in Johnsburg. Mr. and Mrs. Mullenbach celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary on June 7, 1938.

Futile indeed is the pen of an editor when such a fine gentleman as John C. Mullenbach passes on. We feel that he has truly lived a fine life, and has been an important personage in the keeping the wheels of progress in motion in his community. John has departed from us, but we know that his works and deeds will stand out as a fine monument to him and his family.

His wife and the following eight children survive: Paul, Joseph, Cordula and (Margaret) Mrs. Albert Smith, of Johnsburg; Mary, St. Paul, Minn.; (Katherine) Mrs. John Fink, Rose Creek, Minn.; (Sabina) Mrs. Lawrence Brumm, McIntire, Iowa; (Rosella) Mrs. Paul Pitzen, Osage, Iowa. He also leaves two brothers, Matt C. Mullenbach, Johnsburg; Nick C. Mullenbach, Hoven, S. D.; and four sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Karts, and Mrs. Mary Heimer, Johnsburg; Mrs. John M. Bissen, Austin, and Mrs. Katherine Effinger, Duluth, Minn., and a number of grandchildren.
Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death: Steve, Joe F. and Peter Mullenbach, and Mrs. John S. Freund.
