Funeral Services for Robert A. Barnard, age 75, of Friendship, who died Tuesday night in a Charleston hospital, was held this afternoon (Thursday)at Cole Chapel Church with Rev John G. Gieck, pastor of the Charleston Methodist church officiating. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery was under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. Mr.s Barnard had been in ill health for several years, but his condition did not become critical until a week ago. Born in Sebastian County, Mr. Barnard moved to Logan County at an early age, where he has since resided. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving relatives are his wife, seven sons M. L. of Mundy, Tennessee; O.L. of Ventura, California, Otto of Hartshome, Oklahoma, D.E. and Bert of Fort Smith; Albert of Magazine and George of the home; two daughters, Grace of the home and E.A. McMillan of Magazine; one brother, R.P. Barnard of Catoosa, Oklahoma; a sister S.T. Coleman of Irving, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren


On February 1, 1888, Robert married Luella Catherine Moffet in National Springs Arkansas. They had 12 children. They were a farming family living near Chismville, Arkansas. "Bob" as he was known in the community was a leader in the affairs of school and church. His home was a haven for who, for whatever reason, needed a place to live. Many a meals and bed.
