Glen M. Benda, age 71, 1536, Avenue I, Fort Madison, Iowa died Tuesday, April 26, 1994 at 7:05 a.m. at the Fort Madison Community Hospital. He was born on October 24, 1922 in Luray, Missouri. He was a resident in Fort Madison since 1952. He was united in marriage to Anna Belle Loftis on July 15, 1946 in Hiawatha, Kansas. He retired in 1985 from Sheaffer Pen Company with 33 years of service. His parent’s names were Clarence Hiram and Anna Susan Kelly Benda.

He is survived by his wife, Anna B. Benda of Fort Madison; three sons, Michael, Steven, and David Benda all of Fort Madison, Iowa and three daughters, Anna May Gentry of Dallas City, Illinois; Laura Jane Hubbard of Jessup, Iowa; Kelly Jean Benda of Farmington, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; 2 brothers, Roy A. Benda of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Eston B. Benda of Atlanta, Missouri; 1 sister, Helen Rader of Memphis, Missouri; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, 1 daughter, and 1 sister. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army, an avid hunter, fisherman, and trap shooter. He was also involved with the Fort Madison Senior Citizens.

Funeral services were held at the King-Lynk Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, 1994. The family met friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at King-Lynk Funeral Home. His body will be cremated following the funeral service. Rev. Jack Finn officiated. The inurement was in the Combs Cemetery, Luray, Missouri. Memorials have been suggested to Bethel Fellowship Church. Contributions can be left at King-Lynk Funeral Home.
