Mrs. Katherine Paul, 80, of Newberg, Oregon, last surviving member of the immediate family of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Loney, who came to the Walla Walla Valley August 19, 1882, died in the Oregon City, Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Loney both were natives of Ireland going to Canada in an early day. The trip of the Loney family from Toronto, Canada, to Walla Walla took 17 days. They were eight children that accompanied their parents here. Mrs. Paul was the last member of this group.

The funeral was held Friday afternoon in Newberg. Concluding services and vault interment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery here at 2 p.m, Saturday.

Mrs. Paul had made her home in Newberg the last four years going there from Tacoma where she had resided since 1918. She and her late husband, William David Paul, whom she married in Walla Walla May 15, 1898, resided here many years. Paul died here August 24, 1916. She moved to Tacoma in 1918. One son, Thomas, preceded his mother in death in 1953.

Three daughters surviving are: Mrs. Winnifred Gilmore, Hoodsport, Washington; Mrs. Ruth McCracken, Vancouver, Washington; and Mrs. Geneva Walton, Newberg; a grandchild and a great grandchild.

Mrs. Paul was a member of the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church in Tacoma. Mrs. Paul's father, Charles Loney was an extensive farmer in this district, having farmed the Kirkman and Dooley ranches which extended from the ground on which the state penitentiary was built through to Sudbury. He took the last crop off the land and which the penitentiary was constructed.
