Kate Fisher Kittell was a member of a pioneer Kansas City family, born Oct 12, 1870 at 711 Pennsylvania Street on Quality Hill in which overlooked the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers in Kansas City, Missouri. Her father James Fisher operated a sawmill at the foot of the North Side bluff on the river. Later the family moved to a 60-acre fruit farm in Westport at 43rd and Fisher Street where the family built a brick residence. The street was named for the Fisher family. Kate Fisher attended Central High School and graduated from the Emporia Kansas Teachers College. She was a teacher in the old Maccochaque school in the Argentine school district. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She married George H. Kittell in 1894 and moved with him to McPhearson and Newton Kansas and Canon City Colorado for a period of time. They had three daughters.
