WANDA STEIN
Wanda Stein, 85 of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
She was born Sept. 7, 1923 in Marceline, Missouri, the daughter of Belva and Guy Wiseman.
She moved to St. Joseph in the early 1940s and was employed with Swift Packing. It was at that time she met and married her husband of 53 years, Alex "Juggy" Stein. He preceded her in death in April of 2004.
She co-owned and operated Juggy's Furniture Store with her husband.
She was also a member of St. James Catholic Church.
Wanda was also preceded in death by daughters, Saundra Stagner and Carol Ann Shank, and her husband Sam; sisters, Sity Sandridge and Veta Clements; and brother Edgar Wiseman.
She is survived by a daughter, Terry Doocy and husband, Tim of Edmond, Oklahoma; son in law, Donald Stagner; granddaughters Tobin Carpenter and husband, Steve of Tampa, Florida, Candy Pearson and husband, Rick of Wellsville, Kansas; grandsons Chance Clements and wife, Cindy of Peculiar, Missouri, A.J. Shank and wife, Teresa of Independence, Missouri, and Trey Doocy of Edmond, Oklahoma; and cousin, Dean Wiseman and wife, Loretta of Freeman, Missouri. Wanda also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, and three nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in St. Joseph.
