Daughter of Nathan Henry Wickham and Jemima Bass.

Aseneth 'Sena' was born abt 1827. In abt 1844 she married Frederick Shamblin and they had 6 children, 4 girls and 2 boys. Phoebe, Elizabeth, Nancy, Thomas, Emmaretta and George. Sena and her family lived in a coal town for many years before Frederick began to notice that Sena's health was failing. She coughed a lot and complained about her lungs. Believing the toxic air of the coal town was the reason, he moved the family away in hopes she would get better. But that was not to be. After the birth of her son, George, Sena was pretty much bedridden, leaving Frederick and the older daughters to care for Sena and George. She often complained about the fire in her lungs. Several months later, Sena was gone. The details of this bio were taken from a story written about the life of Sena's daughter, Elizabeth, and the details of the story were provided by Elizabeth herself. According to the story, Frederick re-married about 6 months after Sena's death. That would put her approx date of death in Aug 1855. (Fred married Susanna Bates in Feb 1856).

After Fred re-married, Susanna decided she didn't want to raise Sena's kids as she wanted kids of her own. All but one of Sena's kids were farmed out to other family members. Emmaretta remained with Fred and Susanna, Phoebe was raised by Sena's sister, Martha. Elizabeth was raised by relatives of Susanna, Joseph & Millie Bates. Nancy and George were raised by Sena's sister, Julia and Thomas was raised by Sena's parents, Nathan and Jemima.
