Enlisted at age 38 September 1, 1861. Co. K. 27th Regiment, Indiana Infantry. Organized at Indianapolis, Ind., and mustered in September 12, 1861. Discharged December 18, 1861. 2nd Lieut. Resigned. Amended record General Order #585, War Department dated 11/23/66.

Arthur Berry was married two times. His first wife was Achsah Ficklin and they were married 5 Sep 1850 in Fleming County, Kentucky - In 1850, Arthur was living in Elizaville, Fleming County, KY with the family of Erasmus Isbell age 24.

1860 - Living in Dubois County, Indiana

Marriage 2 was in 1866 to Sally Murrel Rose
1870 - Living in Dubois County, Indiana wife Sarah and daughter Auchsah who married Charles B. McMurty in 1886 and second George Van Allstyne (Lucas County, OH) Nov 1906.

Note: In 1840 there were only two Berry families living there that he could have belonged to: Wm H. Berry and Mary Berry.

In the obituary for Austin Berry in Owensboro, KY June 1907 the following siblings are listed: Mrs. Eben Dawson of Granite Falls, CO, Mrs. Fred Weir, and Dr. M. B. Berry of Macco (Michigan). M. B. stands for Montgomery Beverly Berry.

Arthur was an educator in Dubois County. He lived in Ireland, Indiana at that time. He served in the Civil War as a captain in Co. K, 27th Indiana Infantry, during the time frame 7 Dec 1863 to 15 Aug 1865.
