Mary Eckiss, age 98, of Centerville, Iowa, died Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Charles William and Anna Matilda(Erickson)Benz on August 10, 1908 in Unionville, Iowa. She graduated from the Moulton-Udell Community Schools in 1926.

On December 31, 1926, Mary was united in marriage to Ray William Kincade in Udell, Iowa and later was united in marriage to Clyde Wilson Eckiss on September 7, 1934 in Muscatine, Iowa. She worked for over 15 years at the Amrock Hardware in Rockford, Illinois before moving back to the Centerville area. Later, Mary worked as a waitress at the Saddle Rock Cafe in Centerville. She was a member of the Numa Christian Church and the Hospital Auxiliary in Centerville.

She is preceded in death by: her parents; first husband, Ray William Kincade on April 15, 1934 and her second husband, Clyde Eckiss March 18, 1994; grandson, Thomas Arbogast on August 4, 2000; Twin daughters, Darlene and Marlene Kincade.

Mary is survived by: her daughter, Irene Arbogast of Numa, Iowa; son, Charles Kincade and his wife, Patricia of Orange, California; step-son, Clyde Kent and his wife, Helyn of Springhill, Florida; brothers, LaVerne Benz of Moline, Illinois and Ray Benz of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; sisters, Doris Culbertson of Centerville, Iowa and Lelah Belle Wilson of Seabring, Florida; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, Several step-grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 30, 2006 at 2 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow in the Numa Cemetery in Numa, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2006 from 1-8 pm at the funeral home with the family present fron 6-8 pm. Memorials can be made to the Numa Cemetery Association.
