Dayle M. Gray, 82, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 1993 at Davis Hospital in Layton, of a heart attack.

He was born September 3, 1911 in Randolph, Utah, a son of Andrew L. and Klea Muir Gray. He married Norma Herrick, March 4, 1934 in Ogden, Utah.

He came to Layton from Salt Lake City in 1942. He worked at Farmer's Union grocery store. He and his wife owned and operated Traveler's Cafe on Main Street in Layton for several years. He also worked for the Post Office for 23 years, retiring in 1976. Dayle was honored in June by the Layton City Council for 33 years service as a volunteer fireman and 50 years as a member volunteer fireman and 50 years as a member of the Utah Fireman's Association.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He was loved by his children and grandchildren, who thought the world of "Grandpa Gray". He had many friends and enjoyed helping them in many ways. He always had a special job to do for someone. He kept busy up to the last day of his life.

Surviving are his wife, of Layton; two sons and two daughters, Larry D. and wife, Dixie Gray, West Lake Village, California; Dennis Dayle and wife, Patti Gray, Park City, Utah; Mrs. Gregg (Vauna) Taylor, Farmington, Utah; Mrs. Bob (Klea Ann) Moon, Fruit Heights, Utah; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers and two sisters, twin brother, Thayle and wife, Ovedia Gray, Ogden, Utah; Homer L. and wife, Betty Gray, Salt Lake City, Utah; Heber J. and wife, Helen Gray, Lake Havasu, Arizona; Venna Smart, Victor, Idaho; Mrs. Ray (DeLora) Garrett, Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was preceded in death by son, Gary Dayle Gray and brother, DeVere.

Funeral services Saturday, December 4, 1993, 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main, Kaysville, where friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m.
