Murder Victim. Ellen was a waitress and part time student of Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, Texas who disappeared on September 19, 1985. Wichita Falls had an 18-month span where three women had been stabbed, strangled, and in two cases raped and murdered. A female co-worker and room mate of Ellen's remembered a man who lived in an apartment downstairs from Ellen. His name was Faryion Wardrip. The co-worker told a sheriffs deputy that Wardrip had "given me the creeps." The co-worker and her husband both warned Ellen that if she ever saw Wardrip in the yard or hallway she should simply ignore him. Wardrip had been employed at a fast-food restaurant just a few doors from where Blau worked. In October of 1985, Ellen's green Volkswagon was found in a parking lot with the keys in the ignition and her purse on the front seat. On the edge of the driver's seat there was blood. On October 10th, the nude and decomposed body of 21-year-old Ellen Blau was discovered by a county employee mowing a rural road less than four miles from where her car was found. Ellen's case had turned to a cold case before Faryion Wardrip confessed to her murder along with several other murders in 1999. Wardrip was then convicted of killing Terry Sims, Toni Gibbs, Deborah Taylor, and Ellen Blau. He was sentenced to death. Two books: "Body Hunter" by Patricia Springer and "Scream at the Sky: Five Texas Murders and One Man's Crusade for Justice" By Carlton Stowers, have been published about the murders. The Wardrip case has been on the television programs "Cold Case Files" and "Forensic Files".
