Melvin D Hoschar was born on June 5, 1939 in LaPlatte, Nebraska to Wilford and Pearl (Addleman) Hoschar. He passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Plattsmouth, Nebraska at the age of 70 years. Melvin grew up in the Plattsmouth area and lived his entire life in the area. He worked for the City of Plattsmouth in various capacities throughout the years including the Street Department, Water Department and he finally retired as Sexton of Oak Hill Cemetery. Mel was a Lifetime member of the Lepert-Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 and also a member of the Plattsmouth Eagles Club. He enjoyed riding motorcycles especially when it included a Hill Climb. He was very skilled with his hands and spent many hours doing leatherwork, welding, restoring firearms and small home remodeling jobs. He is survived by his Children: Rhonda White and husband Nick of Tarkio, MO; Vince Hoschar and wife Sheri of Plattsmouth, NE; Ferlin Hoschar and wife Connie of Plattsmouth, NE: Travis Hoschar of Plattsmouth, NE; Melinda McDonald of Plattsmouth, NE; Grandchildren: Kristy Schopf and husband Nathan, Shane Hoschar, Richard Hoschar, Cassie Hoschar, Jade Hoschar, Jacob Hoschar, Brent Hoschar, Easton Hoschar. Great Grandchildren: Aiden Hoschar and Nicholas Schopf. Brothers: Joe Hoschar of Murray, NE; John Hoschar of Plattsmouth, NE; Bill Hoschar and wife Alice of Bellevue, NE; Sisters: Marie Sand and Marge Haley of Villisca, IA.

He was preceded in death by Parents, Great Grandson, Rodney Hoschar, Sisters: Alice and husband Allen Rawson; Ida Mae and husband Ed Bickett; Brother: Richard Hoschar; Sisters-in-law: Arlene Hoschar and Helen Hoschar; Brothers-in-law: Dewitt Haley and Raymond Sand.
