Darlene Marie (Hoschar) Sand age 95 of Villisca, IA peacefully passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023 at the Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs, IA.

Marie was born on March 21, 1928 to Wilford "Bill" Ellsworth Hoschar and Pearl Edith (Addleman) Hoschar in Gretna, NE.

When Marie was six years old, she moved with her family to Murray, NE where she attended Lewiston Country School.

Marie worked at the Style Craft Management Company in Plattsmouth, NE.

She met the love of her life, Raymond Frank Sand and they were later married on February 13, 1948 in Plattsmouth. Marie and Raymond made their home in Plattsmouth.

Marie worked with Raymond at their store, Farmers Feed and Seed Company in Plattsmouth. In 1972, they moved to a farm in Nodaway, IA and Marie worked at the Nodaway Lockers and later for the Villisca Public Schools.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Villisca.

Marie is survived by her two sons: Leo "Butch" Sand of Plattsmouth, NE, James "Jim" Sand and his wife Nancy of Athens, OH; three grandchildren: Rachel Frazier and husband Brad, Anne Sand, and Sara Sand; one great granddaughter: Alesha Johnson; her brother: Bill Hoschar of Bellevue, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Wilford "Bill" and Pearl Hoschar, her husband: Raymond Sand, seven siblings: Richard Hoschar, Ida Mae Bickett, Alice Rawson, Mel Hoschar, Joe Hoschar, John Hoschar, and Marjorie Haley, daughter-in-law: Betty Sand, and her grandson: Christopher "Chris" Sand.

A Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M., on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Villisca with Father Sylvester Okoh officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Friday, May 19, 2023 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth with Father Sean Timmerman officiating, Eamon Hajek-Jones as vocalist, and Laurie Hajek-Jones as organist.

The Pallbearers will be Jim Wessels, Gene Sand, Jerry Sand, Mike Roloff, Brad Frazier, and Shawn Hoschar.

His Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth.
