Norma Nadine Walker Pegram


Norma Nadine Walker Pegram, 93, of Cool Ridge, formerly of Beckley, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at the Raleigh Center at Daniels following a long illness.

Born July 6, 1913, at Premier, she was the daughter of the late Haden Alexander Walker and Nota Adeline Walker.

Mrs. Pegram was a retired LPN from Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital, and was a graduate of Stoco High School in 1931. She was a longtime resident of Rural Acres Drive in Beckley, and attended Grace Primitive Baptist Church at Shady Spring.

Mrs. Pegram was preceded in death by her husband, W.W. Pegram; an infant son, Mark; grandson, Wesley Stewart Beals; sons-in-law, Ernie Smith, David Beals Sr. and Dewey Wallace Sr.; sisters, Cressa Fendley and Waneta Mitchem Miller; and brothers, Kerby, James, Harold and Johnny Walker.

Survivors include her son, Woodrow "Woody" Pegram and wife, Cheryl, of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughters, Cornelia "Gail" Wallace of Princeton, Billie Smith of Princeton, Prudy Beals of Moseley, Va., Monica Matherly and husband, Richard, of Green Sulphur Springs and Cheryl Mills and husband, Skip, of Sandstone; sisters, Wana "Shena" Mahaffey of Beckley, Sarah Roles of Odd, and Nancy Mahaffey of Mentor, Ohio; a brother, Stanley Walker of Leesburg, Fla.; grandchildren, Dewey Lee Wallace Jr., Barbara Hurst, Connie Collins, Trina Newton, Martin Smith, Norma Smith, David Beals Jr., Allen Matherly, Scott Matherly, Kristel Carter, Alex Carter, Kayla Pegram, Heather Berardi and John Paul Mills; 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Service will be 3 p.m. today at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring Chapel, with Brother Danny Winders officiating. Burial will follow at Coal City Community Cemetery.

Friends may call 1 to 3 p.m. today.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norma Pegram LPN Scholarship Fund, in care of Ambrosiani Foundation, Attn: Sue Fisher, Manager of Development, Lansing Community College, P.O. Box 40010, Lansing, MI 48901-7210.
