Mrs. John Confer Dies in Hospital;
Funeral Monday
Mrs. Verna Irene Confer, 72, of 261 W. Washington St., a resident of Bradford since 1928, died at 11 a.m. Friday in Bradford Hospital.
She had been ill since December but her condition became critical Thursday night. She was admitted to the hospital early Friday morning.
Mrs. Confer was born on May 21, 1889, at Venus and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Goodman. She married John Confer in 1907 at Venus and came to Bradford 42 years ago.
Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Violet Voorhies of Franklin, and Mrs. Florence Ludwig, of Smethport; seven sons, Cecil and Herbert of Bolivar Drive; Francis of Davis; Robert of W. Washington Street Ext.; Phil of Bells Camp, and George and Jack Confer, both of Bradford; four sisters, Mrs. Nora Keverline and Mrs. Sylvia Karns, both of Oil City, and Pearl Stover and Mrs. Anza Mong, both of Franklin; 20 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A prayer service was conducted in Bradford at 1:30 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Roland Osgood, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was made in McKean Memorial Park at Lafayette.
