On Friday, May 21, 2010, after a heroic battle with cancer, Nelda passed away peacefully at her home with her husband and daughters holding her hand.

Nelda was born in Ogden, Utah on February 9, 1947 to James and Iris Adams. She grew up in Sunset, UT. She was part of the first graduating class of Clearfield High School in 1965.

She married Theo VanDerWoude in 1965 and later divorced.

She worked for Trinity Lutheran Church in Layton for over twenty years.

Nelda married her soulmate, Ronald Ray Brooks, on September 22, 1995. They lived in Sunset and built a home in West Point in 2002.

She loved the simple pleasures in life such as fishing, camping, gardening, playing with her grandchildren and always making her husband's lunch. Ron's coworkers always said she spoiled him. Nelda was a deeply devoted wife, mother and grandmother. When any of them called, the world stopped, and nothing was more important than whatever they had to say. She was there to listen about our day, laugh at our stories, cry at our heartache. She always had great ideas and advice. For her grandchildren, she was the best playmate. Her imagination was endless and she would play for hours. Nelda made everyone feel special and loved.

She had a deep sincere love for her Savior Jesus Christ. She proudly displayed her cross around her neck. Nelda loved talking about God's amazing grace and would spend hours reading and sharing scriptures from the Bible.

She is survived by her husband Ronald Brooks; her three daughters Lynette (Curtis) Clemens, Shery (Tony) Marchese, Jaylene (Brian) Bruce; seven grandchildren with one more on the way; three brothers James (Nancy) Adams, Mike (Connie) Adams and Craig (Deniece) Adams and nine nieces and nephews.

She was taken from us much too young. She will be deeply missed and ALWAYS LOVED and never forgotten. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Boulevard, Ogden, UT. The family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
Interment: Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Boulevard.
