ROY - At 66 years young, a hole was left in our hearts when our father and friend, Theo K. VanDerWoude, passed away suddenly but peacefully in his sleep on July 9th, 2011. He was born on February 25, 1945 in Groningen, Netherlands. His family traveled to the United States in 1952.

He grew up in Ogden and worked at a pizza parlor where he met, and later married, Nelda Adams in 1965. They were married 21 years and together had three daughters. They later divorced. Theo married Janice Miller. They were married 10 years and later divorced.

Theo had a tenacious work ethic, which he passed on to his daughters. As a young man, he was a racecar driver. He worked for Coca Cola for many years. He then went to work for JB Parsons for over 20 years. There he made many long time friends. You would always find Theo proudly wearing a JB Parsons jacket or hat and he loved sharing this attire with all of his son in-laws. He finally retired this year and was ready to live "The good life".

He LOVED golfing, working on projects around the house and rebuilding cars. After almost four years of endless weekend and nights in his garage, he finished building his prized 1927 Model T. He had just started entering it in car shows. Theo was an avid NASCAR fan and would travel to Phoenix twice a year to sit in the stands. Everyone loved when he came for a visit because they always had a great time.

Theo's pizza was famous to his family and friends. There are several great memories surrounding those crazy pizza parties. He was the most sarcastic but generous man you could ever meet. You knew you were liked by Theo if he gave you a hard time. All would agree that there was no one like Theo, and he will be missed deeply! Our hearts are forever broken.

He is survived by his companion, Cheryl Niedert, his mother, Hilda VanDerWoude, his three daughters Lynette (Curtis) Clemens, Shery (Tony) Marchese, Jaylene (Brian) Bruce and eight grandchildren Dyllan Clemens, Tony Marchese, Nicholas Devito, Savannah Hull, Cameron Hull, Austin Hull, Brianna Clemens and Ella Bruce.

Theo is preceded in death by his father, Jacob VanDerWoude and brother, Klass VanDerWoude.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Friends may visit family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Aultorest Cemetery.
