Elmer Irving BEEMS b: 22 Dec 1904 Harlan, Shelby, Iowa d: 05 Oct 1981 Cedar Rapids, Linn, Iowa s/o Eva L. MITCHELL (1877-1954) & Joseph E. BEEMS (1876-1943), married Dakota City, Nebraska 10 Oct 1934 Genevieve BOLENDER b: 18 Aug 1908 Shales, Wayne Co., NE d: 01 Apr 1997 of Cedar Rapids, Linn, Iowa d/o Stephen O. BOLENDER (1876-1951) & Viola D. Winningham (1885-1959). Elmer is buried in the Cedar Memorial cemetery, Cedar Council, Linn, Iowa, I suspect Genevieve is also buried there too. In late 1930's & early 40's Elmer is working for his uncle as a Shipping Clerk at Metropolitan Supply Co, and Genevieve worked as a finisher for F S Mitvalsky & Co in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. When Genevieve lived in Randolph she worked as a Telephone Operator for Bell Telephone Company which appears to be a Beem family tradition. MARRIED -- Miss Genevieve BOLENDER and Elmer BEEMS, both well known Randolph young people, were married at Dakota City last Wednesday afternoon, October 10, (1934), Mr. and Mrs. Clark BLIZZARD witness the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. O. BOLENDER of this city, graduated from our high school, and for the past five years has been chief operator for the Bell Telephone company in Randolph. She is a highly esteemed young lady. Mr. BEEMS has lived most of his life here and has been employed here in various capacities. ELMER BEEMS Passes Away.
Funeral services for Elmer BEEMS, 76, of Cedar Rapids, Ia., formerly of Randolph, were held on Thursday October 8 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer of St. Paul's United Methodist church officiating. Interment was in Cedar Memorial cemetery.
Elmer, son of Joe and Eva BEEMS, was born December 22, 1904 at Harlan. On October 10, 1934 he was married to Genevieve BOLENDER at Dakota City. The couple moved to Cedar Rapids in September, 1938. He had been employed by Metropolitan Supply Co. for 33 years. He passed about on Monday at Mercy hospital following a long illness.
Mr. BEEMS was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist church and the Linn County Rose Society.
