(Obituary)

Rebecca Catherina Arp, nee Carminecke, was born in Belum, Germany, February 13, 1842. May 16, 1960 she united in marriage to Dedrick Arp. To this union six daughters and three sons were born. In 1890 they immigrated to America, permanently settling near Clay Center. In May 1910 they celebrated their golden wedding.

After a short illness she went to her reward Sunday morning December 9, 1934, at the home of her daughter Augusta Alberding near Clay Center, having attained an age of 92 years, 9 months and 26 days. She leaves to mourn her passing, one son, Henry of Harvard, four daughters, Mary von Spreckelsen of Clay Center, Mrs. Rachel Yates of Norfolk, Augusta Alberding, Clay Center and Lizzie White of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her husband preceded her in death December 27, 1910, and two sons, Herman and William who died during infancy and two daughters, Katherine Bauer in 1909 and Anna Helmer in 1931. She also leaves 43 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Henry Arp home in Harvard and the St. Paul Evangelical church (sic) of Clay Center, and burial was made in the Clay Center cemetery with the pastor of St. Paul, the Rev. M.F. Lempke officiating.

Mrs. Rebecca Arp died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. August Alberding, Sunday, December 9. Mrs. Arp was born in Germany and she and her husband came to America about 1890. She was 92 years of age. She and her husband celebrated their golden wedding in the spring of 1910 and he died a few months later. Mrs. Arp is survived by her son, Henry of Harvard, her daughters, Mrs. August Arp (sic), and Mrs. Mary Von Spreckleson of Clay Center, Mrs. Rachel Yates of Norfolk, Nebr., and Mrs. Lizzie White of Sioux Falls, S. D. Funeral services were conducted by Rev M. F. Lempke at St. Paul's church (sic) Monday afternoon and burial was made in the Clay Center cemetery (sic).
